Blenders

Personal, countertop and immersion blenders for smoothies, soups and sauces.

Blender motor power determines what the blender can process. A 600-watt blender handles soft fruit smoothies and soups without fibrous ingredients; it will struggle with frozen fruit, ice and leafy greens. A 1200 to 1400-watt blender processes ice, frozen fruit and leafy greens without difficulty. A 1500 to 1800-watt commercial-style blender (Vitamix, Blendtec) can grind nuts into nut butter and blend whole fruit, including seeds and skin. Immersion blenders are sized for soup blending in the pot and are not a substitute for a countertop blender when smoothie volume matters. This section covers blenders by motor wattage, jar capacity and the tasks each power class handles reliably.
