Best desk mat for home office: top picks on Amazon

VPCOK desk mats use a PU leather surface bonded to a non-slip rubber base. The rubber base prevents the mat from sliding on wood, glass and laminate desks. The 2mm thickness adds a light cushioning layer between hands and the hard desk surface during extended typing.

The PU leather surface resists water and can be wiped clean with a damp cloth after spills. Standard optical mice track correctly on the smooth PU surface without the stutter that occurs on reflective glass or highly polished wood.

At $25, VPCOK provides a complete desk coverage mat at an accessible price for a leather-look surface.

Grovemade desk mats use 100% wool felt bonded to a natural cork base. The 5mm thickness provides noticeably more cushioning under wrists during extended typing sessions compared to thinner leather or rubber mats. Cork provides anti-slip performance without synthetic rubber off-gassing.

Wool felt absorbs sound from keyboard and mouse clicks, reducing the audible impact noise compared to harder desk surfaces. The material aesthetic is a natural charcoal or light gray that pairs with wood desk finishes and minimalist setups.

At $65, Grovemade is the premium option in this guide, appropriate for users who prioritize natural materials and desk aesthetics.

BUBM XL desk mats use a fine micro-woven cloth surface that provides even, consistent optical mouse tracking across the surface without the hot spots (areas of lower tracking accuracy) that occur on textured cloth or patterned surfaces. The rubber base uses a stitched edge border that prevents edge fraying from repeated rolling.

The 36x12-inch format covers the combined keyboard and mouse area of a standard desktop setup. The extended format places the mouse on a continuous surface with the keyboard rather than on a separate mouse pad.

At $20, BUBM XL is the most affordable desk mat in this guide that covers an extended area.

Logitech Desk Mat Studio uses a surface treatment that causes minor liquid spills to bead up on the surface rather than immediately soaking in, providing a short window to wipe the liquid away without the mat absorbing it. This addresses the main weakness of standard cloth mats.

The stitched edge prevents fraying and the anti-slip rubber base holds the mat in position. Logitech produces the mat in three colors designed to complement their keyboard and mouse product palette.

At $30, Logitech Desk Mat is positioned between the budget cloth mat (BUBM, $20) and the premium natural mat (Grovemade, $65) with added spill resistance.
