Editorial policy

The rules every guide has to pass before it goes live.

How we choose topics

We write about questions people actually ask. Topics come from search data and from the questions that come up again and again in hobby forums. We favor narrow questions with a clear answer, and we skip topics where we cannot add anything a reader could not find on the product listing.

How we choose products

A product makes a guide only if all of these are true when we check:

  1. It is a real product from a named brand, currently listed for sale on Amazon US.
  2. Its key specs can be confirmed from the maker's own page, its manual or its listing.
  3. It fits the exact situation the guide is about, such as the tank size, the knife type or the pest problem.

We leave out products we cannot verify, products that are not currently for sale, and products whose design works against the problem the guide is solving. When we leave out a well known product, the guide says why.

What "research based" means here

We do not test products ourselves, and our guides never say or suggest that we did. Our picks rest on manufacturer specifications, manuals, guidance from expert organizations, and patterns across owner reports. When a claim comes from a manufacturer, we say so. Every guide lists its sources.

How guides are written and checked

Guides are written with the help of AI writing tools and published under the Pickspry Editorial byline. Before a guide goes live, every product in it is confirmed on Amazon US, every spec is traced to the maker's page, manual or listing, and every claim from an expert body is checked against the page we cite.

We also run every page through an automated check before it goes live. It rejects pages that claim testing we did not do, pages with no sources, and pages that break our writing rules.

Affiliate income and independence

Pickspry earns a commission from Amazon on qualifying purchases made through our links. That income pays for the site. It does not decide the picks: brands cannot pay to be included, and we do not accept free products in exchange for coverage.

Updates and corrections

Products change. Makers revise specs, listings disappear and better options arrive. We review guides regularly and change the "Updated" date only when the content itself changes in a meaningful way. When we find an error, we fix it on the page.
